Gonzalo Mila

Barcelona, 1967. He started studying Architecture and in 1988 started working at the Miguel Mila  design studio. His experience gained led him to study Industrial Design at the Elisava School. In 1994, he joined forces with Juan Carlos Ines to open the Ines-Mila  studio, which was the birthplace of pieces such as the Tutombas Pranha easy chair and the Balensiya rocking chair. He then went on to set up, along with Miguel and Micaela Mila, the Mila  Design studio. Signature projects of the group included the interior design in the Casa Mila  and the Rama lamppost, winner of the ADI-FAD Delta de Plata award. In 1999, he joined Santa & Cole Ediciones de Diseno as head of the urban division, focusing on the development of new products. Since 2001, he has been running his own studio and creating urban furniture, indoor / outdoor lighting and accessories, as well as projects fostering the integration of wildlife into the city. A strict essentialist, his way of designing is humane, approachable and based on the fundamental importance of utility.
