Umut Yamac is a London based Architect and Designer whose work is characterized by a multidisciplinary approach; exploring the middle ground between architecture and light. After studying Architecture, he established his design studio in 2011 to focus on the human scale; objects and installations responsive to both user and space through playful interaction and movement. The studio output ranges from collaborations with international lighting and furniture brands to bespoke installations and gallery pieces. Yamac has created Array in collaboration with Vibia, a collection of pendant lamps where concepts of form, texture and light intersect in a range of three-dimensional models that glow from above. Often taking inspiration from nature, conceptual ideas are tested through a hands-on process of making where the workshop plays a central role in the development and realization of each project.
